Solar panel cleaning in Parkland, FL

Parkland is the best-fit residential town we serve: master-planned, gated, newer, and full of large tile roofs with large arrays on them. Heron Bay, Parkland Golf & Country Club, Parkland Isles, Cypress Head, MiraLago, Watercrest, and Ternbridge are all gate-controlled, and the acreage neighborhoods, Pine Tree Estates and The Ranches, are the older exception with bigger lots and more trees. Almost every home in 33076 and the Parkland side of 33067 is owner-occupied and inside an HOA, which shapes both what dirties the panels and how we get to them.

Gate and vendor registration, up front

Because nearly every job here is behind a gate, we do the paperwork before the visit. We carry a certificate of insurance and can name your association as certificate holder, register as a vendor with your management company if they require it, and call the gate ahead of time so the truck is on the list. You tell us the community name when you book; we take it from there. You do not need to be home.

What dirties solar panels in Parkland

Parkland is inland, so salt is not the problem. Four other things are.

Pollen, February through May. Oak and slash pine from the preserves along the Everglades edge and the mature landscaping in the older communities. It lands as a fine yellow dust, dew wets it, the sun bakes it, and after a few days it is a film bonded to the glass that rain does not remove. This is the biggest soiling event of the Parkland year.

Wet-season algae and mildew. From June through October the afternoon storms leave water sitting along the lower edge of each panel, and a dark algae band grows where it dries last. It is visible from the ground on a lot of Parkland roofs by September.

Dust. Parkland sits on the western edge of the county, next to the Everglades and next to construction. In the dry season a fine grey dust settles on everything, and agricultural smoke from the Everglades Agricultural Area can contribute to it.

Pigeons on tile. Barrel tile gives a pigeon a foothold at the array edge and a sheltered ledge underneath. The droppings bake onto the glass and the nesting material packs the gap. This is year-round and it is the most common bird question we get from Parkland; see the bird guard section below. Lake-front homes in Heron Bay, Parkland Isles, and MiraLago also get waterfowl droppings on the panels.

The full year is on the soiling calendar.

Tile roofs, worked from the pole

Every Parkland roof we have seen is barrel or flat concrete tile, and tile cracks underfoot. We clean from water-fed poles wherever the array can be reached from the ground, a ladder, or the roof edge, and use walk pads on the tile overlap when a panel is out of reach. No pressure washing, no detergents: deionized water and a soft brush lift the pollen film, the algae, and the droppings without touching the anti-reflective coating, and the glass dries spot-free.

Every job closes with before and after photos and a condition note, and if you want, a look at your monitoring app together to note anything reading low so you know what to ask your installer about. Two visits a year, May and November, is the right schedule for most Parkland homes; the maintenance plan puts them on the calendar at a discount.

Solar Panel Bird Guard in Parkland

Pigeon proofing solar panels in Parkland starts with knowing what is under the array. Pigeons roost in the warm, shaded gap between the panels and the roof, and the droppings that follow streak the glass, clog the drainage edge of each module, and bake on in the sun. Parkland is almost entirely barrel and flat tile, and the newer the community the larger the array, which gives pigeons a long edge to roost under; it is the most common guard question we get from 33076.

Gold Coast Solar does not currently quote guard work on this site. If you have birds or iguanas under your panels in Parkland, call (954) 872-1622 or book a cleaning: we photograph what is underneath, clean out what we can reach, note it in your report, and talk through your guard options with you.

Parkland service area

Solar panel cleaning in Parkland: FAQ

Do you work inside gated communities in Parkland?

Yes, nearly every job we do in Parkland is behind a gate. We carry a certificate of insurance and register with your association or gate before the visit. Give us the community name when you book and we handle the vendor paperwork so the truck is expected at the gate.

Do you walk on tile roofs in Parkland?

Not carelessly. Parkland roofs are barrel or flat concrete tile and tile cracks underfoot. We clean from water-fed poles wherever the array can be reached from the ground, a ladder, or the roof edge, and use walk pads on the tile overlap when we cannot. We never step on the field of the tile.

How often should solar panels be cleaned in Parkland?

Twice a year: May, after the oak and pine pollen, and November, after hurricane season. Parkland is inland, so salt is not the issue; pollen, wet-season algae, dust, and pigeons are. Homes with heavy bird activity or on a lake with waterfowl do better quarterly.

What is the yellow dust on my panels in March?

Pollen, mostly oak and pine from the preserves and the landscaping. Dew glues it to the glass overnight and the sun bakes it on. Rain moves the loose layer and leaves the film. It comes off with deionized water and a soft brush.
