How often should solar panels be cleaned in South Florida?
Twice a year for most homes: in May after the pollen tail, and in November when hurricane season ends. Coastal homes with salt film and homes with heavy bird activity do better on a quarterly plan.
How much does solar panel cleaning cost in Florida?
Residential cleaning in Broward and southern Palm Beach County runs roughly $8–$15 per panel, so a typical 20–25 panel system is quoted by panel count and roof type. Our minimum service is $150. Does rain clean solar panels?
No. Rain rinses loose dust, but South Florida dew and humidity cement fine particles and pollen to the glass, and the mineral spots left when rainwater dries stay put. Salt film near the coast and bird droppings do not rinse off at all.
Does Saharan dust affect solar panels?
Yes. From June through August, Saharan dust events leave a fine haze on the glass across South Florida. Humidity binds it in place, so it builds through the summer until the panels are cleaned.
Can you pressure wash solar panels?
No. Pressure can crack cells, force water past the edge seals, and strip the anti-reflective coating, and it usually voids the manufacturer warranty. We use deionized water and soft brushes only.
